Actual/Expected (A/E) ratio

The ratio of actual deaths in a specific population to those predicted by a defined mortality table.

The A/E ratio is a common measure of goodness of fit of a model to a given set of data and is a key component of an experience analysis. The closer the ratio is to 100%, the better the model fits the data.
