Life table

\laɪf\ \ˈteɪbəl\

A table containing the number of people that survive to any given age in any given year, starting from a reference population in a given start year.

From this starting point it is possible to calculate the probability of surviving to a certain age, the probability of someone of a given age dying in the next year, the remaining life expectancy of someone of a given age, etc.
