Setting mortality improvements with post-pandemic data: Emerging signals, or too early to tell?

Event information

2 April 2026

Zoom Webinar

This event will run from 11:00 to 12:00 (ET).

The disruption to mortality patterns during the COVID 19 pandemic has created significant challenges for setting future mortality improvement assumptions. With mortality data now emerging in many countries for years after the pandemic’s peak, we’re faced with the question: what data driven approaches are available for projecting retiree mortality rates?

Join Club Vita as we examine the latest (over-65) population-level mortality trends in the UK, US, Canada, and the Netherlands. Focusing on near-term improvements, we’ll compare data driven approaches for integrating post pandemic experience into projection scales. We'll also discuss how the mortality characteristics of the pandemic in specific countries alter might influence which modelling methods are most appropriate.

Questions answered:

  • Are mortality rates back to pre-pandemic expectations in different countries?
  • How can pandemic data inform our view of the trajectory of emerging trends?
  • What happens if we “skip” the COVID years in our projection models?

For answers and your chance to ask questions to Club Vita’s experts please join our upcoming webinar.
